Total Hardness Test Strips provide a more accurate reading of calcium and magnesium level than traditional strips that tests for multiple products (sanitizers, pH, and Alkalinity). Our hardness test strips provide accurate reading from as low as 0 to as high as 1000. Low hardness levels are one of the primary causes of excessive foaming in the water. High hardness levels can cause scaling which could result in damaging your spa components and the shell surface. Calcium levels should always be maintained between 200 to 400 ppm. RECOMMENDED USE Easy to use, simply dip strip in water for one second, remove and wait 15 seconds for color code reading. To raise Calcium levels (which is the more common direction) use HT high concentrate Liquid Calcium. Competitor Calcium Increaser require approximately 8 oz of Increase to raise 500 gallons of water 20 ppm. HT accomplishes the same increase with 3 ounces saving you time and money. We recommend testing your water during the initial fill
